Starting from Ramadan 2021, Saudi Arabia will allow Umrah for people who have been injected with the COVID-19 vaccine. It is said that only people who have been vaccinated are allowed to pray at the Grand Mosque, Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque, Medina.
Quoted from the Saudi Gazette, according to regulations issued by the Ministry of Haj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia, Monday (5/4/2021), this permission is also given to people who have been injected with 1 dose of vaccine within the last 14 days, or who have recovered. from COVID-19.
Officers who work during the month of Ramadan are also required to implement health protocols to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
Until now, there is no certainty about how long the policy will take effect. Given that the total number of COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia has now recorded as many as 393,000 positive cases, with 6,697 deaths.
In accordance with the prescribed procedure, congregants who will pray and visit the two Holy Mosques must register in advance through the Eatmarna and Tawakkalna applications, adjusting the applicable operating hours.
The congregation will be asked to show permission and verification of the application, directly from the account of the permit holder in the application.
The Ministry of Haj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia reminded that verification can only be done through this application, so pilgrims need to be careful with fake websites and campaigns.
